What to Do in Toronto in July

July is jam-packed with fun activities and events, especially here in the Greater Toronto Area. Festivals, theme parks, and more can provide hours of fun for everyone. The following are a list of activities, events, and various other ideas for what to do in Toronto in July.

Caribana

Caribana Weekend 2018 will take place from Thursday, August 2nd through Monday, August 6th. Caribana Nightlife Event Tickets are now on sale, and weekend passes will be available in July. The last day to purchase hotel packages is Sunday, June 24th. The event will host a variety of nightlife events including the following:

Etobicoke Butter Tart Festival

The first annual Etobicoke Butter Tart Festival will be held at the Plast Ukrainian Youth Association on Saturday, June 23rd from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. The festival, presented by Personal Promotions Group, will feature some of the west end’s best bakers, including Holy Cannoli Shells and Cream, Hot Oven Bakery, Kate’s Town Talk Bakery, and Tartistry. Toronto Fringe

The 30th annual Toronto Fringe Festival will be held July 4th through 15th. A 24-hour playwriting contest will be held, and applications are being accepted now through June 30th. A non-refundable $28.25 reading fee applies, and the contest is open to writers of all ages and experience levels. Details and prompts will be distributed on July 5th at 1 p.m. at POSTSCRIPT, the Fringe patio at Dundas and Bathurst.

The festival also offers a $250 Teen Fringe program, which includes 5 full days of training with leading theatre, music, and dance professionals; final performance as part of the free programming at the Fringe Patio; and free rush pass to all Toronto Fringe productions. Toronto Outdoor Art Fair

The Toronto Outdoor Art Fair, founded in 1961, was established to put contemporary visual artists and makers at the front and centre of their works, in direct contact with the public, to nurture artistic excellence and artists’ entrepreneurial spirit. It is now Canada’s largest, longest-running juried contemporary art fair, showcasing works by over 340 visual artists and makers in a variety of mediums, including painting, photography, mixed media, jewelry, and ceramics.
